Handigaun area to be developed by Kathmandu Metropolitan City

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) will develop the historic and cultural Handigaun area. The Mayor of KMC, Bidya Sundar Shakya said that Rs 10 million had been managed for the promotion and development of Handigaun area.

Admitting to the responsibility of the KMC to protect and promote temples, religious processions and festivals taking place in Handigaun, the second old human settlement behind Sankhu in the Kathmandu Valley, Mayor Shakya said an archaeological study of the area would take place soon and the foundation stone would be laid for the construction of a house for keeping the special palanquin and the idols of the deities at the temple within a month. The construction cost is estimated to be over Rs 20 million.
