Guinea announces free services including water and electricity amidst COVID-19 lockdown

COVID-19 has adversely affected not just the health of the countries globally but has also impacted the nation’s economy at large as preventive measures have forced countries to shutdown businesses and observe lockdown.

The lockdown scenario has worst affected the poor people and poor nations that have been struggling for basic necessities. In their measure to lessen the economic burden on the economically weaker section of the society, the Guinean government has announced incentive packages aimed at making the country’s citizens comfortable.

President Alpha Conde has announced the free supply of water, electricity, transport as well a freeze on the payment of rent until December and put on hold, prices placed on pharmaceutical products.

It might bring some respite to the people of Guinea who along with the world are fighting the spread of the pandemic COVID-19.
