Greece hopes for stability as Biden wins U.S Presidential election

Soon after Joe Biden was projected to become the next U.S. President, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was among the first foreign leaders to congratulate him on his massive victory.

Calling Biden a true friend, Mitsotakis sent a congratulatory message to him within minutes of projection of him becoming the next U.S. President and hoped for stability. Mitsotakis also voiced out certainty that Biden’s Presidency would help forge stronger ties between the U.S. and Greece. Greece views the change in U.S. politics as an important step in easing down the turbulent relations with Turkey while many analysts have warned Athens that it should take a more cautious approach. It must be noted that Greece has been engaged in an increasingly dangerous standoff with Turkey over energy rights in the eastern Mediterranean.
