Former Lesotho PM’s wife back in jail, bail plea revoked

After the revoking of the bail by a judge last week, the wife of former Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane, Maesaiah Thabane has been sent back to prison on June 3.

Maesaiah Thabane along with her husband Thomas Thabane has been charged with the killing of Thomas Thabane’s first wife, Lipolelo Thabane. She was initially charged in February for her alleged involvement in the 2017 shooting death of Lipolelo Thabane.

The next hearing of her case is pending for June 16. Maesaiah has been out of jail on bail since the year’s start and has travelled to South Africa to be with her husband seeking medical attention in South Africa.

The Police arrested Maesaiah Thabane when she returned to Lesotho, the landlocked African nation surrounded by South Africa from all sides. Both the former Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane and his second wife, Maesaiah Thabane deny charges of murder.
