For COVID-19 surveillance, Thailand will use drones at country’s border with Myanmar

Thailand will use monitoring through aerial drones at its border with Myanmar to keep a check on the COVID-19 cases. Air force drones will be used on aerial patrols along the border with Myanmar, especially over natural crossings, to detect illegal border crossers and prevent the spread of COVID-19, said Maj-Gen Chakrapong Chanpengpen of the Royal Thai Armed Forces’ Security Emergency Situation Operations Center.

Deputy Premier and Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said that that the virus situation in the country is under control and that the latest bout of infections among those returning from Myanmar is not yet considered a second wave, as they can be traced.
