Since the official reopening of borders on September 1, the first direct flight connection between Europe and Namibia, resumed on September 20 as a Eurowings flight landed at Namibia’s flagship airport.
During his address at the welcome event, Namibia’s Minister of Tourism Pohamba Shifeta said that he is delighted to welcome international guests to Namibia again, after months of fight against the global pandemic. “The re-launch of the Lufthansa Group’s direct flights from Europe is very important for our country and supports our international tourism revival initiative,” he added.
The Eurowings flight is an indication of the restart of the nonstop scheduled Frankfurt-Windhoek service and holds importance in enabling European leisure and business travellers to travel to Namibia with safety and comfort. Meanwhile, it will begin three weekly direct flight operations on the Windhoek-Frankfurt route.
