Fire in Egypt hospital, Seven COVID-19 patients die

In an unfortunate incident, on June 29, a fire at a hospital in Egypt’s coastal city of Alexandria has claimed the lives of seven coronavirus patients, while several others remain seriously injured. The information has been confirmed by security and medical sources.

The fire is believed to be caused by a malfunctioning air conditioner in an area designated for isolating COVID-19 patients. Of the seven people who are injured also involved hospital staffs and suffocation is thought to be the major cause for the deaths in the hospital.

Firefighters stopped its spreading to other hospital buildings, and ambulances were dispatched to transfer patients to other medical facilities.

An investigation has been launched in the matter by the concerned authorities.
