EU’s 27 ambassadors back post-Brexit trade deal with the UK

The 27 ambassadors of the European Union signed off on the post-Brexit trade deal with the United Kingdom, a move which paved way for the agreement to come into effect from January 1 when the transition period comes to an end.

The EU’s 27 ambassadors, at a meeting on January 28, unanimously approved the provisional application of the 1,246-page trade and security treaty, which means that the move will take effect at the end of the year despite the European Parliament not yet ratifying it.

Taking it to the micro-blogging site, spokesperson Sebastian Fischer wrote, “Green Light for #BrexitDeal: EU Ambassadors have unanimously approved the provisional application of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement as of January 1, 2001.
