The European Parliament has approved the seven-year EU budget 2021-2027 with 548 votes in favour, 81 against and 66 abstentions. The text agreed with Council on the Interinstitutional Agreement (IIA) was approved with 550 votes in favour, 72 against and 73 abstentions.
“Parliament gave its consent on Wednesday to the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) so that EU support can get to citizens as from the start of next year.”, a statement from EU said.
“It is a historic budget for a historic moment,” said European Parliament President David Sassoli. “With this plan, the European Marshall Plan can start, to help us get out of the dramatic crisis generated by COVID, and lay the foundations for a new beginning: for a greener and fairer Europe,” he said.
