The European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme in Kazakhstan (UNDP Kazakhstan) launch a new knowledge-sharing portal on sustainable development goals (SDGs) for Central Asian countries.
The SDGs Platform’s primary goal is to collaborate with governments and civil society in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan to accomplish the SDGs. By monitoring SDG accomplishment and financing, the platform will assist nations in tracking and adjusting their major socio-economic policies.
Earlier this year, the EU and UNDP Kazakhstan struck a EUR 1 million deal to encourage information sharing among peer nations in the region.
The SDG Platform’s knowledge-sharing component will be critical in integrating country-level initiatives at the regional level and mobilizing all efforts to address regional sustainability concerns. It will assist local governments and organizations in developing institutional capacity, securing funding, and mitigating the negative effects of COVID-19 in the region.
Representatives from a variety of stakeholders, including governments from CA nations, international organizations, the corporate sector, academia, and civil society organizations, spoke during the inaugural event about the methods for implementing the SDG platform.
