England to roll out a new system shortening quarantine time for incoming travellers

According to the government statement released on November 24, England will roll out a new system on December 15, as per which the passengers arriving from high-risk countries will be allowed to take a COVID-19 test after five days of quarantine and also to be released from any further self-isolation if they test negative.

Travellers who do not take the COVID-19 test will undergo mandatory 14-day quarantine while those who would want to take advantage of the scheme will have to book a test with a private provider from a government-approved list, for which they will pay themselves.

“The move will give passengers the confidence to book international trips in the knowledge that they can return home and isolate for a shorter period if they have received a negative test.”
