An early Parliament election in Armenia will be held in June 2021. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a statement posted on Facebook that the vote will take place on June 20, adding the decision to hold an early election followed talks with Armenia’s opposition parties and the president.
“Snap parliamentary elections are the best way out of the current internal political situation,” he said.

The deal that saw Azerbaijan reclaim control over large parts of Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas. Armenian opposition parties and their supporters are demanding that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan resign, calling the agreement he signed “treacherous” and “humiliating. Pashinyan has defended the peace deal as a painful but necessary move to prevent Azerbaijan from overrunning the entire Nagorno-Karabakh region.
