DPRK warns ROK of “regretful and painful” retaliation

As the mutual trust shatters between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic Of Korea (ROK) after the latter’s failure to stop anti-Pyongyang leaflets from being sent into the North, Pyongyang, on Friday, June 12, threatened to take “regretful and painful” retaliation soon against Seoul.

“The times will be truly regrettable and painful” for authorities of the Republic of Korea (ROK), warned the senior official, adding “The confidence that (we) tried so hard to have in the South Korean (ROK) authorities has been shattered.”

Jang Kum Chol, director of the United Front Department of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), in a statement said that Pyongyang dismissed Seoul’s promise to stop “defectors” from sending balloons carrying leaflets as “lip service”.
