A designation from the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) met KP Oli, the Prime Minister of Nepal. The meeting was held at meeting held at PM’s residence in Baluwatar. According to the Himalayan Times, Nepal representative of UNHCR Carolin Spannuth Verma inquired about management of Bhutanese refugees in Nepal.
Oli thanked the UNHCR for assistance in management of Bhutanese refugees in Nepal and believed that such assistance would continue in the days ahead. Nepal, a developing country facing its own problems, wants to manage the refugee problem gradually.
“Nepal has put in priority the graceful repatriation of refugees to their country. If that does not happen, their resettlement in a third country is another option. The third option can be management within Nepal. Nepal government is open to all three options,” the PM told the delegation.
