Defence Minister unlikely to meet his Chinese counterpart during SCO meet in Russia

The sources on September 2, revealed that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is unlikely to meet his Chinese counterpart in Russia during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting.

The Union Minister Mr. Singh is leaving for Moscow on September 1, to form a part of the SCO Defence Ministers’ meeting. Mr. Singh’s visit to Russia comes at a time when India and China are resuming their Brigade Commander-level talks in Chushul/Moldo to discuss issues related to the situation on the southern bank of Pangong lake.

The meeting comes after the Indian troops thwarted an attempt by China to transgress into India areas near the Pangong lake in Ladakh on the intervening night of August 29 and 30. The Brigade Commander level talks have been underway for three days now but so far, no concrete outcome has emerged from the engagement.
