Defence Minister holds talks with Israeli counterpart, India-China standoff figures prominently

On July 24, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a telephonic conversation with his Israeli counterpart Lt. Gen Benjamin Gantz, said sources, adding further that the standoff between India and China figured prominently.  

“India’s standoff with China in eastern Ladakh figured prominently when the two Defence Ministers delved into the evolving regional security scenario,” they said, adding, the major focus of the talks between the two sides was speedy implementation of ongoing defence procurement programmes. 

The two Ministers expressed satisfaction at the progress of strategic cooperation between the two sides and further discussed ways to expand and strengthen the overall defence and security ties between the two nations. “They also expressed satisfaction at the ongoing collaboration in research and development in fighting pandemic COVID-19 which will not only benefit the two countries but also aid the larger humanitarian cause,” read a statement by the Defence Ministry.
