In a big push this year, the United Nations has called on the nations for putting an end to the gender based violence. With the theme “FUND, RESPOND, PREVENT, COLLECT’, this year’s International Day For The Elimination of Violence Against Women assumes great significance amid the COVID-19 pandemic, during the lockdown restrictions of which countries across the world have reported increased cases of domestic violence.
Marked every year on November 25, the day runs a 16 Days of Activism’ against Gender-Based Violence (GVB) campaign. The campaign kick started on November 25 and will end on December 10.
The United Nations is working closely with the survivors of such violence, activists, stakeholders and people from all walks of life to fund and respond faster to the cause.
