CPE Joins the United Nations-Backed Principles for Responsible Investment as a Signatory

CPE  announced that it has signed the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Investment as an official signatory (the “UN PRI”). it stated that CPE will continue to harness its expertise and work with sophisticated international investors to advance Environmental, Social, and Governance ideals within the investment management business as a capital management organization motivated by social responsibility.

ESG management, according to the company, is critical to achieving sustainable development for the company and the industry as a whole. CPE created an ESG policy when it was founded in 2008 to assist its transaction team in considering ESG factors during the investing process. In recent years, an ESG Committee has worked to improve the firm’s ESG practices by improving its governance framework, developing its ESG capabilities, enhancing information exchange, and promoting the industry’s influence of ESG principles. CPE fosters ESG education among all industry actors while aggressively promoting internal ESG standards inside the organization.

CPE also incorporates ESG considerations across the investment management lifecycle and dedicates resources to this goal. At the same time, it wants to improve the governance of the companies in its portfolio. CPE can deliver advanced ESG concepts and expert management solutions to its portfolios, as well as promote a full “green” company strategy, to assist them to accomplish their commercial and social goals, by forming long-term partnerships with them.

ESG management necessitates keeping up with the times and updating ESG standards on a regular basis. On a worldwide scale, CPE aspires to strive toward these ESG management ideas and standards.

The UN PRI was founded in 2006 by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to assist investors in understanding the investment implications of ESG factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions in order to improve returns and better manage risks. The UN PRI has been signed by over 4,000 institutions around the world, including over 60 Chinese institutions. The signing of the UN PRI by CPE in 2021 represents a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to responsible investment.

CPE sees the UN PRI signatory as an opportunity to make more ESG improvements and innovations, given the rising worldwide attention on ESG investing and the implementation of national “carbon neutral” ambitions. It will use smart ESG solutions internally and for its portfolio firms to enable more efficient, proactive, and collaborative ESG management.

Simultaneously, it will continue to promote ESG principles in its investment practices and with other industry organizations that share a similar vision, leveraging the power of green finance to support long-term sustainable development goals as well as a comprehensive transformation and upgrading of a variety of industries.
