A couple of days after declaring himself as the interim President of Mali, Colonel Assimi Gotta has now become the transitional President of the country. He was named as the transitional President of the country by Mali’s constitutional court.
The court said that the decision was due to the “vacancy in the presidency:
The ruling by Mali’s constitutional court stated that Col Goïta should take on the responsibilities of interim president “to lead the transition process to its conclusion”.
Mali is in midst of another political turmoil as a second military coup has taken place in the country in the last 9 months. President Bah N’Daw and Prime Minister Moctar Ouane, detained by the military soldiers, resigned.
