Clinical trials of China’s COVID-19 vaccine suspended by Brazil

The clinical trials of a Chinese-developed Covid-19 vaccine have been suspended by Brazil, announced Brazil’s health regulator on November 9. The move came after an “adverse incident” that involved a volunteer recipient, a blow for one of the most advanced vaccine candidates.

It had “ruled to interrupt the clinical trial of the CoronaVac vaccine after a serious adverse incident” on October 29, the regulator Anvisa informed.

However, it refused to give any further details on the same, saying it could not give details on what happened because of privacy regulations, adding further, that such incidents included death, serious disability, hospitalization, birth defects, potentially fatal side effects and other “clinically significant events”.
