The Darqad district of the northern Takhar province of Afghanistan witnessed fresh clashes on April 23.
An Army Spokesman of the northern region, Abdul Hadi Jamal, said that seven fighters, including five militants and two security personnel, have been confirmed dead in the Darqad district clash.
Abdul Hadi Jamal added that the clash erupted after a group of Taliban militants stormed a checkpoint of National Army in the morning of April 23. The attack triggered a gun battle, which lasted for two hours and the attacking insurgents fled after leaving five bodies behind, said Abdul Hadi Jamal.
The clash also led to the death of two soldiers.
No comment over the incident have been made by the Taliban.
Despite the Afghan Peace Deal being signed, the attacks of the Taliban has not taken a downward slide in Afghanistan.
