China perceives rising India as Rival, seeks to curb its ties with US, allies, says a report from US State Department

The US State Department, emphasising that Beijing intends to displace America as the world’s foremost power, said in a report that China sees rising India as its rival and seeks to curb its strategic partnership with the US, its allies, and with other democracies.

Coming ahead of the transition of power from Donald Trump’s administration to President-elect Joe Biden’s administration after the US presidential election held on November 3, the detailed policy document said, “China perceives rising India as a rival and seeks to impel it to accommodate Beijing’s ambitions by engaging economically while constraining New Delhi’s strategic partnership with the US, Japan, Australia and its relations with other democracies,” adding further that China is undermining the autonomy, security and economic interests of several nations across the region.
