China calls on Myanmar to coordinate strengthening the joint prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic

During a telephonic conference with Myanmar’s officials, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar on September 15 called on Myanmar to coordinate strengthening the joint prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in the two nations.

The embassy stressed on the importance of testing travellers for the novel Coronavirus infection and said that it hopes the two countries can deepen and strengthen border control and information sharing to contain the further spread of the virus. “China and Myanmar should also jointly fight illegal entries at the border,” the embassy further added.

China has reiterated its commitment to offer help within its capacity in Myanmar’s fight against the global pandemic. The conversation came amid a resurgence of novel Coronavirus infection cases in Myanmar and reports from China of confirmed cases that were imported from the neighbouring country.
