Britain is in a race against time to roll out COVID-19 vaccine: UK PM

As deaths hit record highs and hospitals ran out of oxygen, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on January 11 said that Britain was in “a race against time” to roll out COVID-19 vaccines. Also his top medical adviser has said that the pandemic’s worst weeks were imminent.

During his visit to a vaccination centre in Bristol, in southwest England, PM Johnson said, “It’s a race against time because we can all see the threat that our NHS faces, the pressure it’s under, the demand in intensive care units, the pressure on ventilated beds, even the shortage of oxygen in some places.”

A more transmissible variant of the disease is rushing through the population which comes as a major threat to overwhelm the National Health Service (NHS) as hospitals get filled up with patients.
