Britain becomes first western country to approve a COVID-19 vaccine for general use

In a major advance for humanity’s fight back against the COVID-19 pandemic, Britain on December 2, announced a rollout of Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine from next week, following which it becomes the first western country to approve a COVID-19 vaccine for general use.

“Britain expects to begin receiving the first shipment of 800,000 doses “within days” and people will begin receiving shots as soon as the National Health Service gets the vaccine,” said British Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

In an address to a news conference, Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) chief executive June Raine said, “Everybody can be confident that no corners whatsoever have been cut. The public deserves nothing less.” British PM Boris Johnson hailed the medicine authority’s approval as a global win.
