Brazil President challenges Supreme Court order blocking his supporters’ profile on social networks

A Supreme Court order that blocked several of the profiles on social networks that belonged to his supporters, in the wake of an ongoing fake news investigation has been challenged by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, confirmed the right-wing President using his own social media handles.

It must be noted that the Supreme Court, in its ruling, ordered the suspension of 16 accounts and 12 pages of digital influencers who back the Brazilian President on social media that included businessmen, politicians and political activists with Twitter and Facebook accounts.

The ruling granted by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes is in violation of the constitutional rights of the owners of the accounts, read the lawsuit signed by the President and Brazil’s Solicitor General Jose Levi. Citing the defiance of the Constitution, the lawsuit calls for immediate unblocking of the affected accounts.
