Brazil management draws sharp criticism over rise in deforestation

The international community has sharply criticised Brazil’s management of the Amazon jungle over the rise of deforestation in the region.

Country’s President ​Jair Bolsonaro, following the criticism from the international sphere, appointed his vice-president, retired army general Hamilton Mourão to lead the National Amazon Council and try and tackle the problem.

The National Amazon Council has been tasked with the creation and implementation of policies and reforms to preserve and develop the region.
