A medical team in Egypt has been tested positive for COVID-19. Nineteen members of a medical care team in Matariya Educational Hospital has been tested positive for COVID-19, announced the General Authority for Educational Hospitals and Institutes in Egypt.
The health authority stated that of the 54 samples collected from the medical team, 19 have been tested positive.
The statement from the General Authority for Educational Hospitals and Institutes added that the outbreak happened in the hospital in East Cairo, when a nurse contracted the virus from her late father-in-law, who died due to COVID-19 complications.
Apart from the Matariya Educational Hospital, the Al-Azhar University announced that the number of staff members infected by the virus in its Zahara hospital in Cairo has increased to 135.
Vice President of Al-Azhar University, Mahmoud Sadiq, said, nearly 85 cases from the medical care team from Zahara University were isolated in Al-Azhar specialised hospital, while the rest were self-isolated in their homes.
