Astra Zeneca will deliver a further 9 million COVID-19 vaccines to the European Union (EU), European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen tweeted: “Step forward on vaccines. @AstraZeneca will deliver 9 million additional doses in the first quarter (40 million in total) compared to last week’s offer & will start deliveries one week earlier than scheduled. The company will also expand its manufacturing capacity in Europe”.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has already recommended COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca for authorisation in the European Union. According to a statement on the EMA website, “ EMA has recommended granting a conditional marketing authorisation for COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in people from 18 years of age. This is the third COVID-19 vaccine that EMA has recommended for authorisation.”
