As new cluster of COVID cases emerge, Vietnam shuts schools and ends Communist Party Congress early

Vietnam has ordered a closure of schools and has also ended the congress of the Communist Party early as a new cluster of COVID-19 cases was detected in the country. We’ll have a difficult and special Tet ahead, but I’m sure we all will overcome this together,” said Mr Vu Duc Dam.

The official media of Vietnam reported that Authorities of 16 provinces and cities nationwide have decided to close schools since February 1 after some pupils were found to have been in contact with COVID-19 patients. In Thai Nguyen, schools are shut from February 1-16. Schools are closed since February 1 until next announcement in Hung Yen, Tuyen Quang, Binh Phuoc, Hoa Binh, Thai Binh, Gia Lai, and Ha Noi. Ha Noi also decided that all bars, karaoke parlors and discotheques must close and residents are told to avoid non-essential gatherings from February 1 to contain spread of COVID-19.
