As election nears, race tightens between Bolivia’s two main presidential candidates

As election in the state are round the corner, the race is tightening between Bolivia’s two main presidential candidates, as per an opinion poll released on October 9. However, many voters said that they were still undecided with just a little more than a week left for the crucial polls.

Indicating a dip in support for the MAS political party of Bolivia’s socialist former president Evo Morales, the poll showed, socialist candidate Luis Arce is leading centrist former President Carlos Mesa by just six percentage points.

The polls scaled to be held on October 18 will play a major role in the direction of the landlocked country after a fraught ballot that took place last year prompted Morales’ resignation and paved way for a political turmoil in the Andean country.
