Among 32 students chosen from the US as Rhodes Scholars are 4 Indian-Americans

Among the 32 students chosen from the United States as Rhodes Scholars virtually this year for the first time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are four Indian-American students.

American Secretary of the Rhodes Trust Elliot Gerson, on November 22, announced the names of the 32 Americans chosen as Rhodes Scholars representing the United States.

The diverse group that won scholarships to the Oxford University in England consists of immigrants and students of colour. Of the 32 students, 22 are of colour, 10 are black and are equal to the greatest number ever elected in one year in the US. Of the 32 students, 17 winners are women while 14 are men and one is non-binary.

This diverse group will go to Oxford October next year to study in various fields including social, biological and physical sciences, the humanities, and public policy.
