In a recent survey conducted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), it has been found that most travellers are reluctant to opt for air transportation amid the COVID-19 pandemic because of the fear of contracting the novel Coronavirus.
On the other hand quarantine requirements for several nations turned away the travellers who did not find it comfortable with restrictions imposed on arrival.
So, in a move to regain travellers’ confidence, IATA has called for rapid, accurate and scalable testing for all passengers before departure. Alexandre de Juniac, IATA’s director general and CEO said, “Testing all passengers will give people back their freedom to travel with confidence. And that will put millions of people back to work.”
It must be noted that health authorities have said they are open to air travel but realised that an international approach and a call for testing for air travel is the need of the hour.
