As the cases of novel Coronavirus is keeping a constant rise in the continent, the cases tally in Africa has surpassed the 111,000 mark.
As of Monday afternoon, May 25, the continent recorded 111,348 cases with 3,348 deaths, says the data released by the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. Also, it must be noted that 44,630 recoveries have been reported from the disease.
Having reported more than 22,000 cases and deaths exceeding 400, South Africa remains the worst affected country in the continent by the deadly virus. With this tally, South Africa becomes the only African state that has topped 20,000 mark. Other than South Africa, Egypt has reported 17,265 cases of the infection.
The deadly disease has spread its roots across all 54 African countries, said the continental disease control and prevention agency.
