Afghan accuses Iranian guards of torture and murder of Afghan migrants crossing border

With the world dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, the cases of violence have not taken a back seat and the discovery of 12 bodies from the Harirud river in the Heart province testifies for the same.

The officials in Afghanistan have laid out an investigation over the alleged claims of Iranian guards beating and torturing dozens of Afghan men trying to cross the border and dumping their bodies into the Harirud river.

Per official data, as many as 70 Afghan men were said to be attacked of which about 12 bodies have been pulled from the river and eight others are missing. A statement released by the Taliban stated that no less than 23 people were killed.

The Iranian diplomats have denied the claims and have promised an investigation into the matter.
