According to New Zealand Electoral Commission, advance voting for this year’s election and referendums began on October 3 when around 450 advance voting places opened their doors for the same.
Taking to social media, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said, “Voting opens today! We got in nice and early, you should too! No lines, lots of space, quick and easy.”
The Election Commission said that the advance voting began October 3 and will close at 7 p.m. on October 17. Adding further, the commission stated that overseas voters can also vote for New Zealand 2020 General Election and referendums.
In the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s general election in New Zealand which was earlier scheduled to be held on September 19 will now be held on October 17, four weeks after they were originally scheduled for.
