A team of experts from WHO arrives in Wuhan for Coronavirus origin probe

At a time when China reported its first death from Coronavirus in eight months, a team of experts from the World Health Organization on January 14, arrived in Wuhan to begin with the controversial Coronavirus origin probe.

The 10 scientists, who will complete a two-week quarantine in Wuhan before beginning the highly politicised probe, arrived for their much delayed mission.

The visit by the WHO experts comes at a time when more than 20 million people are under lockdown in the north of China while one province has declared an emergency with a surge in COVID-19 cases after several months of being relatively static. Hailing its economic rebound as an indication of strong leadership by the Communist authorities, China, through strict lockdowns and mass testing, had largely brought the pandemic under control.
