22 storey under-construction building in Lagos collapses, four rescued

On Monday, an under-construction building in Lagos, Nigeria collapsed in the afternoon after heavy rains. Efforts to start a rescue operation for trapped survivors were delayed but have picked up pace. Rescuers are battling against time to dig the massive rubble of dust, concrete and steel to find any survivors. Locals were outraged and there were allegations of improper standards, lack of permission for the luxury high-rise and slow rescue operations. Four people have been rescued; half a dozen people have been confirmed dead by local authorities while many remain missing.
